![]() ![]() Highly suggest it to any of you running Mac and struggling to like the typical go to solutions (ALAC Convert for iTunes) or Clementine (UI Sucks). besides me blabbing on about my transition from a Windows music system to a Mac music system, I guess this is just a recommendation for the excellent music player that is Swinsian. It even supports bit rate changing out of the box. Recently I stumbled across a program called "Swinsian" and need to shout about it on here since I think its the best foobar alternative for Mac there is. So I was glad to find a build of dbPoweramp for Mac. I have previously used EAC and then dBPoweramp on Windows. ![]() But its just not me!Īlso ripping my CD's. ![]() Even converted my 700 album FLAC collection of CD+Vinyl rips to ALAC so I could use iTunes. However now I only have my MacBook Pro and have always struggled with my music collection. Of course, if you use Windows, Foobar2000 is the defacto music player (in my opinion). I have recently done away with my permanent home office Windows workstation, which served as my FLAC player for my main system. at least that's what it sounds like.As I'm an IT Infrastructure Architect by trade, I frequently find myself using every operating system going, however my day to day desktop OS of choice is Mac OSX, in the form of a 2017 MacBook Pro 15" most recently. Itunes will still be a thing going forward w/apple but it'll have a new name and 3 different branches for different types of media or osmething. adding a new thing to handle the library has me a bit nervous but i suspect it'll happen sooner or later. so i need to do some kind of detective work to sort out wtf is happening. copied entire contents of the drive to the new drive and directed itunes to find it and still it gives "these songs couldn't be found" type bullshit when syncing to the ipod. i got a new HD for my library because existing one is full up. doing a full transfer to a new app is daunting because i'm worried about shit just disappearing because fucking apple. I've meant ot look into it for a long time but i'm still using itunes basically as something that dumps playlists and library onto my old ass ipod. nice grid view, flac support, smart playlists etc. I've searched the net for something, and i found the open source "clementine" which says it shall do all of this, but it is very in progress, slow and buggy when loading many files.Īny tips for a good application out there? i'll give my money for a good, stable application that can handle large amount of files and support all the normal file types FLAC, WAV, MP3, AIFF i'd really like to just index a directory with all my files, have the album art and metadata automatically inserted and be presented with something like a grid view with albums/artists/songs. Swinsian iTunes Alternative with Great Search Facility. it's uninspiring and boring to dig through tons of files and directories with no album art or categorization, as you all know. Swinsian is a sophisticated music player for Mac OS X with wide format support, folder watching and advanced tag editing and designed to be responsive even with the largest libraries. having used the good itunes (back in the days) and spotify now i'm also realizing that i need more of a music library app – not just a player – to categorize, shuffle, search and discover my music. vlc is a very good video player, not a very good music player. i used to be happy with foobar2000 but now i'm on a mac, so i'm stuck with gnarly vlc. alot of which is just sitting there waiting to be discovered. I have a lot of music on my external disks. ![]()
